St John Yoga

HATHA YOGA : Hatha yoga combines ha meaning Sun and tha meaning Moon. Ha represents the energectic and masculine side and tha represents the receptive and feminine side of the practice. The goal of hatha yoga is to unite the energetic and receptive sides of ourselves, allowing the balance of strength, flexibility and surrender of body + mind. Hatha yoga combines a series of held asanas {yoga postures} and supports energy flow throughout the entire body.

VINYASA YOGA : Vinyasa yoga links pranayama {breath} and asana {posture} also expressed as one breath, one movement. The practice of Vinyasa yoga is high energy, supports balance, and builds endurance + strength through deliberate and continuous connection of breath and movement.

YIN YOGA : Yin yoga is a practice of surrender in which you are invited to soften the muscles and relax in each asana {yoga postures}. The softening of the muscles allows for the asana to support the strengthening of connective tissue in the body. Yin yoga should be practiced with cool muscles rather than after activity. Each asana is held anywhere from 3-10 minutes and completed seated and/or laying on the floor. Many find the stilless of the practice meditative and releasing.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a deep relaxation technique where you are awake, aware and in a meditative state of consciousness. The practitioner is guided to turn away from outer experiences and focus on inward awareness. Throughout the practice of Yoga Nidra the right and left hemispheres of the brain are guided to be balanced. Known as yogic sleep, Yoga Nidra is effortless and is being studied and recognized for its ability to support relief from insomnia, anxiety, depression, trauma and daily related stresses by deep receptivity of consciousness leaving transformative impressions on the mind and body. This practice works at a deep level to release stress, tension, conditioning and old self-limiting patterns within the mind.
